PMA’s Maintenance Summit is the commercial and multifamily real estate industry’s only full-day event catering to the professional development needs of maintenance techs, supervisors and others responsible for property operations.
The Maintenance Summit’s will offer hands-on workshops designed to help maintenance and operations staff improve their service skills and better serve their residents and tenants. The event features an inspirational keynote address, demonstrations and offers multiple opportunities for networking. Other highlights include an exhibit showcase and the Fifth Annual Maintenance Professional Awards Luncheon.

Workshops (programming will be presented in five distinct tracks as flisted below):
Appliance Academy (9 - 11:55 a.m.): Experts will lead a hands-on demonstration that focuses on diagnosis and repair procedures for all major appliances, from washing machines and dryers to refrigerator, ranges and dishwashers.
How to Rekey Locks (9 - 9:55 a.m.): Learn the basic workings of mechanical locks and lock cylinders. Learn how to use specialized locksmith tools, duplicate keys, identify common lock problems, use a blank key catalog to identify keys and re-key both residential and commercial grade lock sets.
Electrical Installation and Repairs (10 - 10:55 a.m.): Learn to use electrical principles and electricians’ tools to solve routine and complex electricity problems.
Plumbing Troubleshooting (11 - 11:55 a.m.): Learn the tricks of the trade that make plumbing troubleshooting and repairs easier.
Heat Pump and Split A/C Unit Repair and Maintenance (9 a.m. - 11:55 a.m.): This seminar will focus on HVAC repair and maintenance and include demonstrations of preventative maintenance, diagnostics, common failures and repairs for controls, motors and refrigerant circuits.
Implementing Preventative Maintenance Program (9 - 9:55 a.m.): A properly developed and implemented preventative maintenance program can save property managers time, money and energy. Learn what items should be included in your preventative maintenance program and explore the most efficient ways to develop and implement the program.
Five Ways to Break the Cycle of Reactive Maintenance (10 - 10:55 a.m.): Reactive maintenance is expensive and inefficient. Learn how to identify the root causes of system and equipment failures and develop strategies to reduce costs and get the most out of your equipment, building systems and maintenance and engineering staff.
Retooling the Fundamentals of Apartment Turnovers (11 - 11:55 a.m.): Turnover rates hover around the 50 percent mark nationwide. It’s critical to expedite the turnover process in a comprehensive and systematic way. This panel of experts will discuss their most successful practices to make the turnover process cost-effective, safe and fast.
Asbestos and Lead-Based Paint Awareness (9 - 9:55 a.m.): Learn about asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint. The following will be answered: What is asbestos and lead-based paint? What are the federal regulations governing asbestos and lead-based paint? What can I do if asbestos or lead-based paint is present at my property?
Indoor Air Quality (10 - 10:55 a.m.): Current indoor air quality issues and how to take preventive and corrective steps to ensure clean air will be discussed. Learn about effective diagnosis, response and management of indoor air quality problems. Mold, carbon monoxide and ventilation are among the topics that will be addressed.
Bedbugs - Modern Day Vampires - Myths and Facts (11 - 11:55 a.m.): Explore the hidden world of bedbugs — learn about their behavior, living conditions and areas of concern for property managers. Explore detection processes, from K9 to human, and various monitoring techniques and equipment. Learn about treatments including home remedies, chemical, thermal, steam, cryogenics, dusting and more. Identify ways to protect your property management team and current and prospective residents.
