Did you know that more than 56,000 children are food insecure in Fairfax County, Virginia? There are 188,000 students from pre-k through 12th grade, and 56,400 of those students are on free/reduced lunch during the school year. When summer arrives, many of those kids must figure out how they will eat their next meal. The Summer Lunch Bunch hands out fresh lunches prepared by the Fairfax County Food and Nutrition Services at four Springfield, Virginia sites.
PMA's Community Service Committee is looking for PMA members who would like to volunteer with the Summer Lunch Bunch, Wednesday, July 10, 2019. Visit the Summer Lunch Bunch website to sign up for July 10, 2019.
On July 10, volunteers will meet at The Journey Church. There you will receive the meals and supplies for the day and any additional instructions you may need. From there, your team will head to your specific meal service site and will serve lunch from 12 - 1 p.m.
Please note, per USDA regulations, the program will do a limited background check once you sign up. For this check, the program will only be using your name and need no other information.
